The way online video copyright functions is based on a reading of the 10-year-old Digital Millennium Copyright Act that equates video hosting sites with Internet service providers. Pandora No Longer On Verge Of Collapse, Set To Be...

After lamenting for years that high streaming-royalty rates would shut down online radio service Pandora, founder Tim Westergren indicates that those dark days are behind the company.
In fact, he claims that Pandora will post a profit for the first time next year, as the service is expected to double its revenue this year to $40 million.

French National Assembly Adopts 3 Strikes Law
“The French National Assembly has passed a three-strikes law that forces ISPs to disconnect the service ot file-sharers who ignore repeated warnings. The passage comes just weeks after the country’s Socialist Party almost squashed the bill. The new vote was 296 in favor and 233 opposed. The law now moves to the French Senate who is expected to vote today.

The iPhone Is Accelerating Music Sales For Pandora
Users are buying about a million songs a month now from these affiliate links on Pandora, CTO Tom Conrad tells me. Of those, a solid 20% are coming directly from Pandora’s iPhone app, which includes an easy link to open the iPhone’s iTunes app, and buy a track. That’s really impressive considering that it’s just one phone that a relatively small percentage of their users use.
