I went to Madison Square Garden last night to catch the REM / Modest Mouse / The National Show. The show was awesome. REM blew me away and I was actually there to see Modest Mouse and The National. I’m now a lifelong REM fan. Modest Mouse was great but because of the acoustics in the arena and the fact that the seats weren’t completely filled while they were playing, their sound had an echo quality to it. The National who played to an audience that was maybe 1/10th of capacity sounded great. I’m excited to see them later this summer at Summer Stage. Great show but made me remember why I prefer clubs to huge arenas.
