Death Row Assets Auctioned For $18 Million
Death Row Records was sold for a mere $18M at auction to WIDEawake Entertainment Group. What an incredible deal! Death Row is responsible for some of the most important rap albums in the 90’s including Dr Dre’s, The Chronic, which introduced the world to Snoop Dogg. Also included in this deal, is a “significant” amount of unreleased materials. Death Row filed for bankruptcy in 2006 and as with many bankruptcy cases the only winner in this, is WIDEawake.
Think of all the ways to monetize that catalog! From re-releasing the albums, to music licensing to video games, $18M is a steal. Someone over at WIDEawake is singing , “Swing down, sweet chariot stop and, let me ride”.
